There is a lot of confusion in the market regarding what an MSI actually is or does. With anything from platform sellers to BMS & AV companies and everything in between offering MSI services. Having delivered multiple large scale MSI projects I now have a clear definition of the skills required to complete a project successfully and this describes what is needed.
All of these skills are used on projects and behind all of this is a talented team of dedicated software developers that help the team automate tasks, develop real insights to the data and lately help clients demonstrate how changes to a building using the data to drive automated changes shows per device reduction of energy and carbon output.
All skill sets are held in-house as full time employees.
It is important that the delivery team exist as they help understand the building, the relationships between devices and how to best get data from the systems and individual devices. The platforms many promote have no value without the team to deliver the data to it.
